What kind of energy are you bringing into your work, your relationships, and your brand right now?
Are you moving with urgency, resilience, or something calmer and more grounded?
What might happen if you trusted the energy that feels most true to you instead of reaching for someone else’s version of success?
When we think of energy, it’s easy to picture something loud and fast—the charge of youth, the spark of a new idea, the drive to prove ourselves. But energy isn’t always about movement. Sometimes it’s about presence, intention, and knowing when to pause.
As we grow, our energy evolves. The energy of youth is physical and ambitious. It wants to explore, test limits, and make its mark. Mid-life energy is resilient. It keeps you moving when life is full of careers, businesses, and family commitments. The energy of elder wisdom is calm and assured. It has seen many seasons and feels no need to compete. It brings perspective, patience, and quiet authority.
Each stage has its own value and beauty.
Brands move through seasons too. A young brand feels bold and hungry to be noticed, like Who Gives A Crap in its early days, using fresh ideas and humour to stand out.
An established brand often becomes more focused and intentional. Think of Thankyou, which started with big ambitions and grew into a trusted social enterprise with a clear mission.
A legacy brand carries a quiet confidence. Qantas doesn’t have to shout to prove its worth. Decades of history and loyalty create an energy that feels steady and assured.
Whatever stage your brand is in, the most powerful choice is to embrace that energy honestly. When your message and your energy match, people feel it—and they trust you more.
This is why I was so struck by the Aspire podcast conversation between Emma Grede and Jefferson Fisher. Jefferson shared that your breath is your first “word.” One intentional breath before you speak can set the tone for the whole exchange.
Calm energy is often the most powerful kind. Whether you’re leading a team, pitching a client, or navigating a tough conversation, people feel when you’re steady and present.
Energy is the first thing people sense. Before they read your credentials or hear your story, they feel the energy you bring into the room.
A strong brand isn’t just a collection of colours and words. It’s a living expression of your energy in this moment.
For your personal brand:
What kind of energy do I have in this season of my life?
Does the way I show up feel true to who I am right now?
For your business brand:
Does my brand reflect its real story and stage of growth
Where am I spending energy trying to look like something I’m not?
What would happen if I trusted the energy that’s naturally here?
Brandcrafting Japanese Phrase of the Week - E is for 縁 (En) - Connection. Relationship. Affinity. Fate.
In brandcrafting, it's the bond that connects a brand to the people it serves.
It is more than networking or visibility. It’s the deeper trust and resonance that grow when you show up with consistency, purpose, and authenticity. When you build your brand with En in mind, you focus on relationships instead of transactions. You value shared experiences, mutual understanding, and the sense that your work is part of something bigger.
En reminds us that brands are built through real connections, not just tactics. It is the invisible energy that makes a brand feel alive, magnetic, and lasting.
